Effective September 10, 2026
This policy describes the Vivi — Avatar for ChatGPT browser extension.
Vivi reads relevant text and interface changes on chatgpt.com to animate an avatar: typing, response generation, and supported expression tags. This information is processed temporarily in the browser. Vivi does not save your conversation history or send it to the developer or another server.
When voice reactions are enabled, Vivi reads available numeric audio-level statistics from ChatGPT's existing WebRTC connections. Vivi does not record, transcribe, or retain audio, request microphone access, or transmit those statistics outside the page and its local avatar frame.
The avatar name you enter, size, position, visibility, and reaction preferences are stored locally using Chrome extension storage. They are not synchronized by Vivi to a server. Removing the extension removes its local extension storage.
You can disable model-directed reactions and voice reactions in Settings, hide the avatar, or uninstall Vivi. The setup-copy button writes only the supplied setup instruction to your clipboard when clicked; Vivi does not read your clipboard. Sending that setup instruction to ChatGPT is a separate action you take.
Vivi has no developer backend, advertising, analytics, or sale of user data. It does not transfer conversation data to third parties. Your use of ChatGPT remains subject to OpenAI's own policies. Vivi is independent of OpenAI.
Vivi uses information only to provide its stated avatar functionality and adheres to the Chrome Web Store User Data Policy, including Limited Use requirements.
